Spring Clean Your Jewelry!
Hey there jewelry lovers!💕
Â
Spring has sprung, and it's time to give your favourite accessories some TLC 💕
Â
Whether you're a minimalist or a statement jewelry kind of person, we all know how precious our jewels and gems can be.
Â
So, let's roll up our sleeves, put on some good music, and get ready to show our jewelry some love! Here are some tips to help you get started:
Â
Â
Â
Cleaning Your Precious Metals: 🧼
To clean your jewelry made from metal, I recommend using a gentle jewelry cleaner specifically formulated for these metals, or a mild soap.
Simply soak your jewelry in the solution/soapy water for a few minutes, then use a soft cloth to gently wipe away any dirt or debris.
Rinse your jewelry thoroughly with clean water and dry it with a clean soft cloth.
*Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the surface of the metal which can lead to tarnishing which is no fun.Â
Â
Cleaning Pearls and Gemstones: 💎
To clean pearls and gemstones, I recommend preparing a bowl of room temperature water with a few drops of mild soap in it.
Then dip a clean soft cloth into the water and gently wipe your pearls and gemstones.
Don’t use anything abrasive as this can cause scratches.
Make sure to dry your pearls and gemstones after with a clean soft cloth.
Â
Storing Your Jewelry: 💌
Proper storage is also super important for maintaining the beauty of your jewelry, and preventing tarnish on your silver pieces.
I recommend storing your silver jewelry in small individual plastic bags that will keep the moisture out. This will prevent them from tarnishing as quickly.
All jewelry can also be stored in a soft lined jewelry box or an individual pouch to keep them from scratching and rubbing against other pieces.
Â
If you’re concerned with tarnishing, one of the best ways to prevent is to… wear your jewelry! Wear it often and keep it in its plastic bag when not being worn.
Â
Oh, and fun fact: did you know that gold-filled metal, rose gold-filled metal, and niobium don’t tarnish!
Â
I hope these tips and recommendations will help you keep your jewelry looking beautiful and shining bright.
